Aimee Norris Aimee Norris, a West Texas native, began her musical career as a violist and began to study the cello at the age of 14. Despite a late start, her professional career began just one year later at the age of 15 when she began to perform with such professional ensembles as the Lubbock Symphony, the Midland-Odessa Symphony, the Big Spring Symphony, and the Mid-Texas Symphony. She was honored as a three-year Texas All-State member, a soloist with TMEA's Region VI Orchestra, and a recipient of the prestigious TMEA resident's Scholarship in 2002. She has toured throughout the US and Europe as a soloist and an orchestral musician. Aimee is currently finishing her Bachelor's degree in Music Studies at the University, where she has been an active participant in the UT Symphony Orchestra, the UT University Orchestra, the Texas Cello Choir, the Ernest Butler Opera Center, the Austin String Ensemble, and UTSMEA. Upon graduation, she hopes to teach orchestra and chamber music in the Texas public school system and advocate for fine arts in the public schools. |
