Prospective Teachers |
The University of Texas String Project is an award-winning
program designed for the training of string teachers at the
University of Texas at Austin and the education of young
string players in the Austin area. The faculty is comprised
of graduate students at the University of Texas School of
Music, many of whom have traveled from as far away as Germany,
Taiwan, Australia and China to participate in the String
Project. Teachers in the UT String Project have the opportunity
to work with private students and ensembles on a weekly basis
and also receive the benefit of pedagogy seminars with
Dr. Laurie Scott, Professor Phyllis Young, and other
internationally known pedagogues who present lectures and
demonstrations at the university.
Because the String Project is supported by the UT School
of Music, teachers are required to register for a full
course load and may be asked to perform in the University of Texas Symphony
Orchestra each semester that they teach.
