Dear String Project family,
This Saturday, all students should report at 11:00 for our annual Honors Recital in Bates Recital Hall. It should be a splendid concert. Also, there are no BSoM auditions this weekend, meaning that we will be back in MRH classrooms with our main table in the lobby of the ground floor. Make sure that you check the schedule attached to see where your child’s class meets during the 9:00 and 10:00 hours, as they are probably different rooms from where you have been meeting the past few weeks.
Also, Elizabeth Oakes, professor of viola from University of Iowa and former String Project student will be giving some of our students a masterclass at 9:00am this Saturday. We invite all violin and viola T&R classes to attend the masterclass during the 9:00 hour in the Recital Studio. Ms. Oakes will also be giving a lecture for parents during the 10:00 o’clock also in the Recital Studio. The lecture will be focused on her musical journey from Austin to becoming a professional teacher and performer. We invite all parents to attend this as well.
See you Saturday!

Dear String Project families,
If you have not heard by now, this weekend is the winter concert! We are currently monitoring the day for INCLEMENT weather, but are hoping it will be safe enough conditions to have the concerts. Make sure to keep an eye out for an email from the office as we get closer to Saturday. Attached you will find the schedule for Saturday’s concerts. As you will see, we have had to change the location of the orchestra concert to the Band Hall (2.114) due to a miscommunication with the scheduling office. The organ in Bates is in need of immediate maintenance for a Great Organ Series concert on Sunday, and Saturday morning was the only time it could be worked on. Fortunately, we will have Bates for the 11:00 Ensembles concert. All orchestra students, please arrive NO LATER THAN 9AM. Make sure to check the posted schedules to see what room your child needs to go to for tuning and stowing cases. At 9:30 all ECE families will perform as the overture to the String Project Orchestras concert. All ensemble students and families are welcome to come see the orchestras concert. The Ensembles concert will begin at 11:00in Bates Recital Hall, make sure that your child arrives to their assigned room by 10:30 if they participate in an ensemble.
Orchestras–black and white
Ensembles–dress for a special occasion
Instrument Room will be open from 12-12:30 THIS Saturday after the concert. This is the last opportunity to trade instruments before the new year.
In order to cut down on the wait time, please e-mail Kelsey with your child’s name and their current instrument size so that I can have one set aside for you bynoon. The requests submitted via e-mail to me prior to Saturday will be processed first.
Again, keep a look out for an email from the office regarding the weather. We hope to look forward in sharing a special day with you on Saturday for the UT String Project Winter concert!
All the best,
